At The Crossroads
At the Crossroads is a San Francisco organization that works with homeless youth and young adults. Counselors go on outreach four nights a week in the Mission and Downtown neighborhoods and hand out supplies to the youth they meet. Through that, they form relationships with youth and work with them to build healthy and fulfilling lives.

The Faroe Islands

FRONTLINE/WORLD – Faroe Islands
For more than 1,000 years, the people of the Faroe Islands have hunted pilot whales, and whale meat continues to be an important part of their diet. Yet, the islanders now face a new threat to their way of life: A landmark 20-year study of Faroese children has found that high levels of methyl mercury and other contaminants in the whale meat are harmful to a child’s neurological development. The Rules of the Game
Controversy erupts when an Indian tribe decides to exercise its right to build a casino in Rohnert Park, California. Tribal Chairman Greg Sarris says the casino will lift tribal members out of poverty after centuries of oppression. But local resident Tom Scott fears the casino will bring neon lights and gambling addiction. Meanwhile, the town mayor hopes the casino will bring jobs and development, while a Las Vegas-based casino corporation sees an opportunity to expand its market. (2004-2005)
